Default 850 lock key

Chaps

Once again looking for some knowledge re the above

I have 2 working fobs

Ignition is on a separate key as result of replacing entire steering column couple of years ago after some tosser broke in and smashed ignition barrel

Last weekend in moment of marital rage broke door key. Then realised spare fob also does not have door key ( too many moons ago to remember why )

Any advice re most economical way of obtaining lock key much appreciated

Hi Bigfeller666, My understanding is that a broken key can still be copied by a good locksmith. As the key is not for the ignition you will not need to worry about a transponder. Good luck, jack.

Hi Bigfeller666, that's a bugger. I have just spoken to a pal of mine over here who is a locksmith. He says a new key can be cut without having a template key. A good locksmith can cut a key from the lock. Do you have any good ones near you. Apparently not cheap but should be cheaper than going the main dealer route with VIN number etc. jack.

Thanks for all the suggestions

To be clear I am only interested in a cheap fix in which case I need to get on my knees with reading specs and start hunting in that gravel in fact PNUTT as you are only 6 miles away and I am 65 you can have a look if you like !

PNUTT if I buy another R on Monday ( yep I am getting as mad as you ) I might be looking to dispose of the T 5 to a good home, will break my heart cos she has been a cracking mota ( spent more on the blue R I have in 1 year than I have ever spent in 22 years ownership of the 850 ), you remotely interested ?

Would even help you replace the clutch and do the PCV !

Handles and boot locks. Pins that turn actuators (the long but sticking out of the back of the lock cylinder) differ, as does the way they secure into the lock holes.

The door handles that hold the lock can be out the car in 5 minutes. What you want is a pair of door handles and key from a scrap car. I had just what you wanted off my scrap car I am breaking, but needed the door handles and boot lock for my other car. There should be an infinite amount of these available.
