Ray Chapman Motors - As long as there is a hole in my bottom you will be by far the most incompetent set of people I have ever encountered. |

Oh dear, what a shower of ****
Rang 08457 564636 and spoke to Suni Adi, explained the situation and was put on hold for 20 minutes, whilst he rang the dealer, RAY CHAPMANS, YORK. Came back and said that they still did not know what the fault was, claimed the car had been refuelled everytime and apologised for never cleaning it. Not good enough, asked for him to callback and speak to Duncan Chapman He was unavailable, so I ended the call and rang Volvo back on 01628 477977 They have just called back and say the car will be refuelled, cleaned and ready to collect tomorrow afternoon. This is despite the dealer not being happy about sending the car out, they would prefer to keep it a while longer. THEY HAVE HAD IT FOUR TIMES IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS, HOW LONG DO YOU NEED!!!!!!!!!!! The dealer, Service manager has also called my mother to apologise for telling lies about refuelling. 6 Volvo's since 1988. 340, 440, 460, 440, S60 and the current S40. All utterly reliable, without a single part failure, until now. The current one has been the worst by a country mile. I too have a Volvo, an 02 V70 D5, which will not be going to York for servicing. WORD OF MOUTH, ITS A POWERFUL THING |

Booked mine in this morning with the same fault - airbags, anti-skid and failure to start. Had to trailer it to the showroom at a cost of £60. Girl on the counter says they may go for a "goodwill" refit from Volvo. As I just paid out £160 for an ignition switch refit - another inherent fault - I will scrap the car rather than pay up to £1500 to sort out Volvo's failings on a 2005 S40 with 26000 miles from new.

Ray Chapman Motors ahve just called my father to ask how he was getting on with his car.
What a shame that two days after they "repaired" the car it was sold to Mill Volvo Knaresborough who have since sold the car on. Dad now has a V50 DRIVe which having driven myself last week is a huge improvement. Ride, NVH, Gearbox (5 speed) all much much better than 04 2.0d S40 and it is soooooooooooo economical |

This happened on my S60 a couple of years ago. It was jsut a dodgy sensor on the brake pedal (I'm guessing for ABS and DSTC) the brakes worked fine and they changed the sensor under warranty.
Apparently its a very common fault and doesn't take long to change the sensor. |
