The're not plug & play, each one is matched to the keys and probably the engine ECU.

Hi BramV70
Does your alarm siren work? You can test it by leaving a window open, setting the alarm, then leaning in through the window. That should trigger the alarm. If the alarm doesn't work, and the vehicle thinks that it should be immobilised, then you won't know that, and so you might not understand why the vehicle won't start. Steve London

@SteveSarre, going through the car could not find the motion sensor (B-pilar) and inclination sensor (in the boot of the car) nor is the plastic protection cover in the SB wheel arch riveted (has plastic click in pins) so i must conclude i have no alarm (thought was standard for a 2000).
@Chris_Rogers, looking at the wiring diagram I suspect it merely sends an "OK to start" signal to the ECU and nothing more. I unplugged it with a running engine to check whether there is a continuous signal required for the ECU to keep the engine running but this is not the case (running engine remains running with an unplugged immobiliser). Since I take the immobiliser out of the car at night I do no longer have starting problems (100% score in 5 days now) so I want to proceed with changing it for a used one. Was thinking to get a unit and key from a crashed car and tape the key to the antenna ring and leave the antenna ring somewhere tyrapped inside the dash, far away from the real key inside the ignition lock (? do not know the correct wording). Anything I am missing out on? Can anybody shine a light on the codes on the immobiliser box? Searching on internet I find blue ones appearently belonging to V40's and black ones belonging to V70's however sofar the only connection I could discover is that all are having the same codes "F005 V0 0066" and "VIM 016 IMMO 3" the other 3 codes are in general different from the one on my car? |

Sofar so good, still taking the immo out, already for a few months now and even with freezing temperature no problem, however I would like to be able to close my dash and drive around in a normal way.
Managed to source a IMMO and key from another car and tried to trick by starting the car using this IMMO together with the key that belongs to it taped to the antenna ring and far away from the original key that fits my contact. This however is without success, I am afraid the ECU is linked to the IMMO&Key and thus without reprogramming of the ECU this is not going to fly. Did not contact the local dealer if they are willing/able to program the donor IMMO/key combination with my ECU but am afraid they are only willing to program the new set they offered me a few months ago at 550 Euro ....... Any suggestions how to fool my ECU? Thank you! |
