Dealer cannot supply a new key
A few months back I ordered a new key for my 2010 XC90 from a local dealer. It worked fine, but then one day it literally fell apart, so I took it back to the dealer to get it repaired/replaced. The dealer ordered a completely new key, but they now say that they cannot programme it because their computer can no longer recognise the vehicle. They want £115 per hour + VAT to diagnose the issue, but I'm concerned this could mount up very quickly.
One additional point that might be relevant: when the first key was cut everything was working OK in the car, but subsequently the radio died. I wasn't able to figure out the problem with the radio, so I've subsequently fitted an after-market radio and a PDC interface to retain the parking sensors. I don't know if this is relevant to the dealer not being able to connect to the car, but thought I'd mention it anyway. I've already tried super-gluing the broken pieces, but it still falls apart when I put it back in the ignition and turn the key! However this might end up being the workaround if the only alternative is to enter into an an open-ended diagnostic arrangement with the dealer. Does anyone have any better ideas? Not sure if this helps, but if the old components work, all the cases can be purchased on eBay.
The part with the blade usually fails when the spring catch component (silver button) breaks and the blade just flops about and will not spring back. My spare is like this and I have purchased a new blade assembly from eBay ( very inexpensive) search on 'xc90 key fob'. I have to split my old one open and the trick is not to damage the ring aerial sensor which I understand is a glass capsule, but not tried this yet. But if yours has shattered you may well be halfway there. You will also see YouTube instructions on how to tension the spring. Remember that the glass bit is the immobiliser transponder. If broken, a new key will be required!

Thanks for the comment swiss. Just to add that I have read of members on this forum simply taping the transponder component still in its shattered case part to the new (and empty) blade part. Clumsy I know but seems to work.
