No I have a very original 1979 244dl, it has cloth seats, plane material in that year, ribbed. The wheels would have been steel with a chrome cover over the hub and nuts about the size of a side plate. Virgo’s I’m not sure if they were around then, as an option, but were standard on later GLT’s, Corona alloys were the most common option of the time back in 1979. The Rev counter was standard.

The First GLT came out in late 1979 as a 1980 model .. It was a police spec engine with 140 bhp , a hotter camshaft , they seemed to all be deep purple colour with black big alloy bumpers .. they changed it to a tamer camshaft for 1981 model year and that early GLT had the "GLT" wheels we all know and love ...

The first GLT I saw was a big-bumper saloon in a Burgundy shade, on a "W" suffix, with the 5-panel rear lamp clusters.
My first 244DL was a 1979 "V"-plate model. Like the OP's, it had a rev-counter and cloth upholstery and the same style of hub-cover mentioned by DAN 244.
