Default Special tools?

It is really a 10 minute job with one of these... Quite a standard tool I would say

It may be for you but for most of us we really need a ratchet spanner to do that and the reach of a gorilla!

Whenever I remove my distributor cap I have to borrow a special 8mm ratchet with foldy end from Sam the mechanic.
Sorry there isn't a less tedious solution.

...because unlike Rversteeg a standard 8mm ring spanner has no room at all to pivot in my engine bay with all the bundled up wiring at the back.

Yup, a standard 8mm spanner is no good. I went to Halfords and bought an 8mm ratchet spanner with a flexible head (though I prefer 'foldy end'). Solved the problem.

It's just crossed my mind why our Dutch friend can do it and we can't! It's incredibly simple - he works on Left Hand Drive cars!

The brake servo, heater hoses and several other things are all transferred to the other side of the engine bay leaving plenty of room to get at the distributor with a standard 8mm spanner! Still a stretch to reach it though!
