Pcv system effect of this split hose?
ok well had my HG changed by a local garage over xmas due to preasier issue and asked them to check the oil trap.
Anyway had the car back with the overheating issue sorted but they said they suspect an oil leak between engine and autobox... more issues I could do without. We have had the old v70xc 2.4t a few years now and it's always dripped oil. (currently on 152k) So with a fresh mot it's time to sort her and performed a glove test last week over the open oil cap..... probably a few years too late.... but the glove blew up.... which based on Internet research it's not suppose to do... could explain the oil leaks... Now the car looks like this again And I have got around to removing the inlet manifold and tackling that banjo bolt. This is what I found...... could this split hose create positive pressure issues? I have checked the holes in the block by feeding a cable tie down and get fresh oil on it. A new pcv kit is on order. Not looking forward to the banjo bolt replacement! Also going to replace all the vacuum lines with silicone.

Can't answer but at this point it's time to get a hose a blow some air through the lower block hole of the PCV, should hear oil bubbling inside the oil pan or it means the oil passage is clogged and the pan needs removed for cleaning or the whole PCV job will be useless.

The boys on the 850 forum advise using a large format cable tie to clear the lower port, I am going to do my PCV in the next few weeks and have a selection of plastic pipe in stock. I am only guessing but in the Ideal world you want a tube the same diam as the port - approx 12mm. Oil change also important once you have fiished the job owise all that gunk will be spinning around your engine. Hope this is if some help. |

Cheers bigfella
I've put a long cable tie down already and get fresh oil on both holes. It wasn't a particualy wide tie though. Was hoping to know a rough size as I have none in the garage. Any typicallu i just poured 5 litres of oil her about 50 miles just before stripping down due to an oil leak.
