Default P02244

hi all..

on first start up, if i pull away too quick or hard, i get limp mode with the engine service jobby pop up that goes away after turning the engine off and back on... then vfor the rest of the day, i can pretty much belt the ****e out of her and it very rarely goes back into limp.

and sure enough, the next morning (or aftr being left a good few hours), it drops into limp when driven a tad too hard, but if i drive normal, no limp..

iv done a quick read with torque, and its come up with P0244 which points to the wastegate solenoid, but im baffled as to it only going into limp when its cold and pretty much 99% fine for the rest of the day!..

any ideas as to what it could be?

Al.

I think your code has been miss-typed - do you mean P0224?
I assume you still have the V70 2003 D5 in your details?
Check pout the "sticky" on ECM6805 (the equivalent of P0244).
Could be any number of things, best to check out the common, and not so common items in the post.

hmm... so today i set torque up and set off home from work... after giving it a bit of lead foot, it boosted to 21.5psi and went into limp...

then after warming right up, it wouldnt boost passed 16.5, so im guessing sticky vanes?

You can check the vacuum actuator with a Mityvac or similar. The actuator should move smoothly and freely over it's full range. Any sticking or jerkiness could indicate sticking vanes.

Yes sticky vanes, I would try going on a nice long run down a motor way to clear it out , get it nice and hot, and run in 4th gear from 30mph full throttle to the red line, do this lots of times, then another good blast, if you know anyone with vida, you can move the turbo actuator on and off, but do get the car nice and hot,

Hi f you have a howl are you shore that the turbo inlet rubber pipe is not split as that can make it over boost, and it will make it howl, remove the pipe and have a good look,
yes clean clean it with mr muscle ,
after cleaning , use vida to actuate the vnt, you do need the car to be running,

but 1st look at that turbo inlet pipe,
Dave

whats the best way to do it in situ?.

iv seen a vid where he drilled a small hole just before the turbo and squirted mr M into it until it came out of the exit, then he tapped the hole and put a bolt in it.
