Exclamation Please help! Replacing my Volvo s60 Steering pump

Hello! Newbie here

Please can someone help me out as completely stuck.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmSpJvTicek

I'm stuck at 2.25 I bought the t60 with torx the smallest one available but I can't get it in there to loosen it up.

Any idea's? As there is just no space to put the t60 in designated hole to remove the belt.

( I want to replace the power steering pump on a volvo s60 t5 2002.
Much much appreciated!

Default How to Release Tension on Auxillary Belt to Allow Removal

i will double check when I get home, but I think you will have a different tensioner fitted to that shown in the video.

The attached image is what Volvo show for the petrol models of that era.

The guidance states:

Removing the Drive Belt

Remove the drive belt from the power steering pump
Use a fixed spanner and turn clockwise to take the load off the automatic tensioner
Remove the drive belt

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Dave

Also the picture you added shows exactly what we have but there is a cap on there tried taking it of but without success.

The third one all the way down is where a t60 might fit into although there is no way I can get it in there due to lack of space..

Maybe see this @ 19:20 . There may be a small cover over the 14mm bolt
Also don't forget to place back the locking bracket that goes over the nut of the metal line. And careful with the pump pulley, it's very brittle try not to knock it against the engine.

Does your tensioner look like the one in the attached image? If so, the plastic cover clips on over the bolt head, and can be pried off.

As you have highlighted, there is not much room where you are working, so even with the correct size spanner, it can be really difficult to get the leverage in that limited space. Sorry if this is already a well known solution, but a suggestion to gain much more leverage is to use a ½" extension bar head located in one part of an open ended spanner - image illustrates. This shouldn't stress your spanner too much, but please make your own judgement as to whether you decide your tools can be used in this unconventional way!

Cheers

It looks like it's glued there but it fact it will fly off in a second. Just put a flat screw driver on it and tap with a hammer at the other end.
