Remap recommendations and advice
I am looking into a remap for my 2.4 E4 163 V70 with the M66 box.
After looking around the forum, I see many D5's have been remapped but I cant find much conversation about 2.4 engines. Could any owners with the 2.4 give me feed back about the differences to the car after the map especially when towing. Better driving experience? More even turbo delivery? Better use of higher gears? Fuel consumption? DPF issues? I have read that Shemtech Automotive Solutions is the person to go to for this and comes highly recommended. They also have a September offer of a slightly reduced price. Have you used Shemtech for a remap. 2.4 or D5?

I think most here would go the volvo polestar route rather than third party.
I belive Celtic mapping does an upgrade for the volvo but have no experiance of it other than on a mates bmw 5 series. Big problem with 3rd party upgrades is them being over written at service time at dealers, not a problem with polestar. Paul. |

Polestar every time. Most dealers will negotiate the price and sometimes have special offers. Many insurance companies don't regard Polestar as a remap because, I am told, its done by Volvo from Sweden. Plus its always checked with the main vehicle software at service time. If you use a main dealer that is!

Thanks for the replies guys.
I spoke with Volvo today and they are more than happy to Polestar the car at the merry fee of £800 or so 🙄🙄 Thats just the standard remap without any input from me about what I want from the map. I last had a VW Passat mapped and that included multiple rolling road uses and road tests to get it right for me. It ended up almost spot on for my uses. Also, it doesnt go to Volvo for servicing. A trusted local independent is great for that. So no hope of an overwrite. So, all things considered, I dont think I will use Volvo. Back to the original question. Experiences of remaps? In particular Shemtech 😉😉👍👍

Ps I got Polestar not long ago for £675. I got them to reduce the price a bit by taking advice here by shopping round the dealers and it worked. The reason I went with Polestar was that it meant my Volvo selekt warranty would not be invalidated and if I ever needed a software upgrade from Volvo, the Polestar would not be overwritten, whereas third party mapping would be. |

Struggling to get cover from you guys for my XC70 D5 SE Police Spec. Its essentially a Polestar'd D5 205 with factory fitted bigger brakes and uprated suspension and I'm getting a refusal from the underwriters. Its not an uncommon car on the second-hand market, its made by Volvo with OE parts and its not as if its a rare sportscar or something otherwise exotic - its a cheap second-hand Volvo!

I had my S80 2.4D 2007 163 remapped at A1 remapping in Hull (£200 2 years ago)
made massive improvement on: performance acceleration low down torque I would say the fuel consumption is actually very minutely better! would definitely recommend, very professional outfit. Deffo wouldn't pay the rip off £800 polestar remaps! |
