I bought a clutch kit and flywheel from Braydon Motor Company back in 2009 and the clutch cost about £130. Whole lot then was £185 including delivery.

The part number for the kit I got was Sachs 3000696001.

Looking on the net I found these people who list comparable parts from various manufacturers but they seem to list the wrong Borg and Beck one by the sound of things.

http://www.niparts.com/index.aspx?ac...anum1=83021CDD

That link doesn't work properly but if you type in the sachs number you get something different.

Just been having a word with a supplier, Luk kit is £170, Sachs £180. But they also stock National parts for only £64! Now I said, " Well if it's that cheap surely it's a load of cr@p, " but he said they compile the kits from Sachs parts. He is getting one in to open up and see what's actually inside.
Also I got a reply off another supplier who said the Sachs kits are no longer made and there's only one left in stock for £203.

Default wanapart

LUK: 623224000 £180.27 + VAT
SACHS: 3000 696 001 £145.01 + VAT
BORG & BECK: HK6664 £231.25 + VAT
AP CLUTCHES: KT6664 £125.08 + VAT - OBSOLETE
NATIONAL: CK9729 £132.10 + VAT - OBSOLETE
VECO: VCK3745 £177.50 + VAT
VALEO: 826450 £175.00 + VAT

Not much use from wanapart! The Borg and Beck HK6664 is available for £108 posted on ebay. The only tempting one is the Sachs one but I'd want that a bit cheaper.

Is there any chance the cheap ones are actually reconditioned ?

I'm wondering how various makes get into one box. If a company get hold of good quality used parts and then fit new friction material they could have come from Sachs originally.

I don't know this for a fact but I know reconditioned clutches are availavble but haven't really thought about what you actually get.

If this is the correct company they actually sound pretty good and use new parts.

Gave them a ring and they don't supply to the public. The lass said they get the clutchs " from China ". The clutch number from them is CK9729 for the tdic clutch. I will wait and see what's in the kit that they supply to the other bloke.

The add on ebay for a borg and Beck clutch kit is £108. The part number is HK6664 and the bloke at car parts and spares said it contains a Luk plate. As luk parts are more or less sachs parts that will do for me . It's ebay number=
331096762665.

Default faq

I had a look at the m90 faq on Turbobricks :- volvo 850 glt clutch 18 1862 314 032 plus a sachs racing pressure plate. Eventually found this on ebay:- item number- 330735151430. Sachs 3 piece clutch kit for £141.99.
It hasn't got the sachs racing pressure plate but I think it will do.

Default 850 glt

I'm going with the 850 glt clutch and pressure plate. Second hand for £50 then posting them to Friction Services in Bristol to get pimped. The sachs racing pressure plate is around £350! ( from the m90 faq on Turbobricks ). The release bearing I already have.
