When you say the fridge doesnt work, is it just slightly cold, or nothing at all.

have only tried on elec let it run for 12 hours and nothing at all havent tried on gas which i seem to remember was always better than elec but cant light with the ingnition button as it dont spark so need to pull out as its fitted in to light so in the intrest of safty think a newer fridge would be better if i cant get it to work on elec have tried on 12 volt and doesnt seem to draw any power and they normaly kill a battery .

Your battery and electric modes wont be as good as gas, best cooled on gas first, then kept cool by battery, or electric.
My fridge went like this, wouldnt light on gas, found a dead spider on the pilot burner, dusted off lit ok.
As for poor cooling, you could try removing the fridge, turn it over a few times, then leave it standing upside down for a couple of hours. Pop it back in and hey presto, believe me it works, know a few people who,ve done this now.
ps, best to empty the fridge first though. LOL.

The gases have settled by the sound of it take it out or go for a longish drive over a few speed bumps as this shakes the gases up
