Default 1997 v90 bonnet won't open

Hello all, I have been trying for a couple of hours to encourage my bonnet to open, to no avail. The cable seems very slack from inside the car so I suspect its cone loose or snapped.
I've searched Dr Google and have managed to get the grille off without damaging it.
After that point, I'm stumped. Where do I go from here?

I've managed to get the nearside front to come undone by pushing the cable but the off side is firmly locked in place

I've just had a look, not sure if that will work for the V90. Thanks anyway

Different model, but might be helpful:

Putting some pressure at the corner of the hood might take some pressure off the release mechanism, making it easier to release.

That link helped and after much cursing it came free. My tool of choice was half of a Land-rover Discovery bottle jack handle.
It looks like the ball end has broken off the drivers side latch, so I'm going to clamp it in place as a temporary measure until I can get a new one.
Volvo can get one for around £40. So I might go for that. Unless there is anywhere else that might have such a thing.
