1997 v90 bonnet won't open
Hello all, I have been trying for a couple of hours to encourage my bonnet to open, to no avail. The cable seems very slack from inside the car so I suspect its cone loose or snapped.
I've searched Dr Google and have managed to get the grille off without damaging it. After that point, I'm stumped. Where do I go from here? |

I've managed to get the nearside front to come undone by pushing the cable but the off side is firmly locked in place

I've just had a look, not sure if that will work for the V90. Thanks anyway

Link
Different model, but might be helpful:
http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/faq/Body...k_Hood_Release Putting some pressure at the corner of the hood might take some pressure off the release mechanism, making it easier to release. |

That link helped and after much cursing it came free. My tool of choice was half of a Land-rover Discovery bottle jack handle.
It looks like the ball end has broken off the drivers side latch, so I'm going to clamp it in place as a temporary measure until I can get a new one. Volvo can get one for around £40. So I might go for that. Unless there is anywhere else that might have such a thing. |
