Default 'Servicing' the C70 roof mechanism

While I'm not experiencing any problems currently with the metal roof, now we're having some nicer weather, I'm going topless a lot more often.

I have used a silicone stick on the 'rubber' seals, but is there anything I should be doing to lubricate all the roof lowering gubbins? If so, what should I use?

Thanks in advance

Malcolm

Hi Malcolm,

Try the attached document. It shows what to use and where it goes (this is for my 57 plate car).

Seals normally cleaned with IPA and lubricated with Gummi Pflege or Krytox GPL105.

You can get all the products from Volvo as the part nos. are listed, or there are many alternatives if you search the web.

I've just used some of the Gummi Pflege (ebay £9) on my roof and door seals, brilliant stuff stops all the squeaking too.

Brilliant, thanks.

I'm surprised though that a minimum surface temperature of 20 deg C is required, that's rather warm?

Possibly to ensure all the IPA vaporizes and the lubricant spreads properly? Or maybe just for the technician's comfort ... I can tell you from experience that rubbing Krytox along the seals is not a pleasant job with cold fingers!

I've a feeling that's a job coming up for me this weekend with the new toy

Nice new C70. Very jealous.

Caspian blue looks great and you have a matching roof. Not a big fan of the two tone look. A bit old lady for me!

Last C70s make good sense as you get all the toys in the book.

Looking forward to seeing some more pictures.

Until Proghound adds more, will these do?

Thank you! Don't they just have the works. I thought the previous one greatly raised the bar from what had gone before it in my automotive history, but the spec on this is ridiculous. I'm in love ...

Some pictures as requested ... enjoy.

The keen-eyed will spot LED DRL's in place of front foglights, and subtle aftermarket tints on the windows. On the inside, it's the only one I've ever seen with the dark wood trim, even in pictures. The dealer stickers are coming off as soon as I can find where I put the IPA!
