Thank you....if it's not raining tomorrow I will start work straight away, I will try and work by the instructions. They say to never look a gift house in the mouth, these instructions I am very grateful for, however, where did you get these instructions from? In the last few days I feel like I've ventured to the corners of the net and found nothing.
You will find all accesory installation instruction on the Volvo website at:
http://accessories.volvocars.com/en-gb

Select your car model then choose the "services" tab at the top of the screen and choose "Installation instructions"

You will find all installation instructions many of which detail how to remove panels and trim - it's just a matter of going through them and finding which one has the detail you require. For example, the instruction for fitting a tow hook will show you how to remove the rear bumper. By reading these instructions I find that you could almost strip the car apart by referring to them!

Thanks rkennedy,

I attempted the work today and was quite successful, thanks for the info. I manage to take all the panels off. I complied a report to help others who might want to do the same but if you say everything is on the above link then not sure how helpful my write-up will be. Never the less do you know how I can attach a pdf to my reply?

When you reply to a post if you look further down the page you will find "additional options". There you will find "Attach files" - click the box marked "manage attachments". Just add your pdf file there. Simples as they say!

Hi All,

I've managed to remove the interior panels and will soon be looking to lower the bumper if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
Attached is a pdf of what I did. It may not be perfect but there might be enough detail there to make the job a lot easier for others. The quality is not great as I kept getting an upload error with the original file.

As I said in an earlier post look at the installation instructions for fitting a towbar. There you will find how to lower or remove the bumper - a 5 minute job.
Thanks for the write up.

I managed a rear light change with the info from this thread and was eventually successful, although it's not for the faint hearted! Just wanted to say a big thank you for sharing the guide, it was excellent.

Many thanks for the instructions, looks like a big job. Just purchased new assembly for my 2011 XC60 (US model) and was told by a Volvo dealer in Texas, it was easy to replace :-).
We'll see. I assume the UK model is similar apart from RHD/LHD.
Thanks again great job..

Did this myself a couple of months ago, the panels are fiddly as all the fixings are hidden but patience, perseverance and some good instructions will get you there in the end, I was surprised the part of the bumper under the lights had to be pulled away to be able to remove the light cluster, I had a couple of clips break on me but it doesn't seem to have caused any particular issues or rattling.

I just have to pop in here and give a shout out to rkennedy & moes80. We had a mishap with a thermos full of hot chocolate that was accidentally left in the car overnight. It seems the milk rotted and the following day the thermos exploded in the car. Steel thermos, but the plug shot out with great force and sprayed rotten gooey chocolate milk over the better part of the rear interior.

After not being able to get the stench out I realized that I'd have to disassemble the interior in order to do a proper cleaning. Google quickly found this forum which saved the day. Who would have thunk Volvo had such great disassembly instructions readily at hand. Thanks rkennedy for that link! And moes80, your pdf with further details was invaluable. Thanks!

The XC-60 is back in operation and as good as before the incident. I only broke one clip
