Default Any typical faults with T2/T3?

Hi,

Do the manual T2s (with the 2.0T) have any known weak spots?

I would be looking at a nearly new example and wonder what it might have in store for me. Would expect to run it upto 100k.

Cheers.

I have not read of any issues with the new 2.0L T2 engine but these engines were only introduced for the 2016 model years cars so too early for any feedback on longer term reliability. If the engine is as good as previous Volvo petrol engines then I don't see why it wouldn't be capable of covering a high mileage provided it has been properly maintained.
I have a 2016 V40 with the new T2 engine and have done 21K miles and the car has been fine so far.

There has been a few clutch issues with the latest 6 speed gearbox's but it more covers all the cars rather than just the T2 or 3 engine,

Done a couple of balance shafts for engine vibrations but there only a sump off job to do so not bad

Is it me or are Volvo really going down the pan with these new cars! Clutch issues, cutting out,and balance shafts! THe bowls of the engine are really that poor now! And I bet some owners of the D4 want To drive them into the sea! even the new 90 series are full of faults or they seem to be reading this forum. I know some of you guys must work in dealers and see the issues but the Volvos I’ve had previously have been nothing but excellent. I’m starting to wounder about the new stuff. Sorry to hi jack the thread a little

Yes I have read about clutch issues a few times. Doesn't seem to affect all of them but enough to wonder.
