2004 V70 - Play in steering rack- Where to get it re-furbed?

Hi Chaps

I have a 2004 facelift V70. There is play in the steering, the tie rod inners and outers are new but there is still play. I can turn the steering wheel an inch side to side when its stationery. I'm thinking of buying a secondhand rack and then getting that rec-conditioned and having that fitted.

I read a recommendation on a re-con place, but lost the link! Can anyone re-commend a decent (and good value) place?

An inch of freeplay within even a very worn rack is rare. I would check everything else first before forking out for a replacement rack.

Remember to use the securing Volvo tool to the rack when replacing the inner tie rods: it prevents the bushings inside the rack to get damaged causing play in the rack.

Has volvo has a special tool to remove the inner tie rod?
