It probably is a little expensive but if your happy Jonny then you pay your money forget about it saves you cursing and swearing on the drive and you can just get on with driving it now

Car is booked in 4th Sept. So will let you know how it goes. I realise I'm paying for the "free" courtesy car but it's very handy for me and means I don't have to use a day's holiday from work.

Bit sneaky isn't it when garages grossly exaggerate the time it will take to do a job. When amateurs on here can do a job in 45 mins and garages quote 2 hrs labour etc charging excessive labour times for doing basic things like changing pads and discs when you know they can probably do it in 15 mins

I suppose many garages are like most trades and they charge as much as they think they can get away with.

Give the main dealer a call, they work to Volvo book times.

What you are suggesting , i think, is that book times are construed by old company men, witnessed and arbitrated by ameanable trade federation fellows who may or may not get treated to a nice slap up lunch and a spin round a track by a stig in sandals..... ?

and, shock horror, garages have overheads, rent, business rates etc & staff, investment in equipment & tools etc, but good ones also have many years knowledge & work hard to keep their customers happy....

Exactly. I'm happy to pay a bit more for a good reputation, good customer service and a good job done. Volmech has been going since '88, so they must be doing something right. Anyway, I'll post my experience with them after the 4th Sept.

Message Ripsta33 on here as he is only over Shildon (just down the road from you), & he is VERY reasonable and defo knows his s**t when it comes to repairing Volvo's!! He did my V70's belts & I'm sure he was a damn site cheaper than Volmech too. He also did it whilst I waited too! But, end of the day, it's up to you really. But I'm sure he'd help you out as he's old skool.
