Problems with air con-heater
Back to UK and cold wet weather started to try to use the heater on my Italian 240 which is fitted with air con. It seems only possible to get cold or full heat - even with the lever just off the cold position. Also find it doesn't seem to demist very well either. Not being used to the controls on this type of heater I'm wondering whether its a problem or whether its just a case of knowing how to set the controls. I can't stand being cooked - tend to have little heat on at any time but also need to keep enough to clear windows. Any guidance on use of controls and suggestions welcomed.

RE: Problems with air con-heater
Hi,
I'm having the same problem on the Volvo we just purchased (an '89 240 DL). By adjusting the temperature control, we can only get no heat or full heat, nothing in between... Did you have any luck determining the cause? Hoping someone can help :) Chris |

RE: Problems with air con-heater
Not found a solution yet. The car's also fitted with sun roof - between this and the A pillar fresh are vents managing to get hot and cold areas that so now I partly cook ?partly freeze! I will have to ask our American cousins for advice.

RE: Problems with air con-heater
The feedback I've had is that either hot or cold with no in between is a knackered heater control valve (try Europarts - it is different to OEM but works fine). I've now had my motor pack in and the heater core is also suspect - seems I've some work on my hads I'd so0oner not be doing.

RE: Problems with air con-heater
Had a similar problem on one of our 240's, theres a little thermostat device in the heater control valve which (i think) 'fine tunes' the temperature and it seems that when this fails you get the all or nothing effect.
Good luck with the heater motor, had to do it on my 264, the most important tool for the job is a stiff upper lip! Rich |
