Default recommended turbo pipe

Now that I have experienced changing the intercooler pipe (my one is the split one with the breather pipe connected) and it was a pain in the ass, my hands are still oil stained, and I have several cuts (I did it with the front up on a single tripod stand.

I purchased a low cost pipe, around £100, but Ideally I would like to replace it with a high end longer life quality one.

What type of pipes would you recommend. I have of course over many years seen loads of people using silocon pipes, but I (not being an expert) am unsure if this is simply a fad or if they are actually better than rubber

So rubber degrades over time, whether you use it or not, it is also affected by heat cycles. You can get a good few years out of the standard rubber hoses, but as you have found out, when you get into the 10-20 years range you can start to get hoses splitting and failing all over the place.

People generally consider silicone hoses as an upgrade (especially the performance engine builders) as they are more heat resistant and more flexible, so they don't suffer the same level of fatigue and degradation from heat cycles as rubber hoses

This is a site I found before. Unfortunately after I had this hose changed with an OEM rubber hose, would have preferred to have had the silicone one fitted.
