Painted the rear bumper trim
Well with the sun shining today and no wind, I decided to strip and repaint that small section of trim to the rear bumper has per my previous post (1st pic), I could not find a way to remove the trim so I did it in situ, First I removed the remainder of the peeling paint, then gave it a light sand and masked it all up (2nd pic) Then gave it a light sand and applied 3 coats of plastic primer (3rd pic) This was followed with 3 coats of colour (4th pic) This soon went off in the warm sun, so after about an hour 2cups of tea and a couple of fags I then applied 3 coats of clear. Job done ! well more or less, if you zoom in on the lasy photo you should be able to see the sratches that have appeared on the rear wing, definately not supermarket done, I don't go there, no I think I'd been parking too near a bush in the garden, anyway I'll be getting out my orbital buffer and try buffing them out, fingers crossed on that one. David.

Excellent work there David! Glad you had a windless day for it, than can cause real havoc with overspray and curtains!
Good luck with the polisher, you'll soon have it looking spot on again!

For scratches a quick rule of thumb[although by no means definitive] if you gently run your finger nail across the scratch and it catches an edge then chances are it won't polish out and of course conversely if it doesn't catch an edge chances are it will polish out.

I need to do some similar paint jobs on my car.
Any recommendations as to where to get the paint? Presumably it has to be made to the correct colour code. Obviously this only for the colour, as no doubt primer and lacquer are readily available |

The obvious answer is Volvo for the paint although most motor factors can supply the right paint (sometimes pre-mixed as a stock item) if given the colour code. They will be the cheaper of the two and have matching primer and lacquer suitable to work best with the paint.
