So whilst replacing my front right wishbone I came across a severed wire.
Can anyone tell me what it’s supposed to be connected to?

Not sure , sorry. Maybe a bigger picture would help....

Is it he bottom plug with the blank in or is nothing plugged into the top plug?

Sorry about the giant photo, Now I'm on desktop I've figured out how to resize and highlight the wire.

I should add that it is a 2008 XC70 D5

It looks like it should be plugged into the plug connected to the bottom of the front bumper, underneath where you have circled.

I'm not sure, the routing looks like it should follow the sub frame. Note the clip just to the right of the red arrow.

I had an advisory on my service that power steering harness was partially severed, annoyingly they wouldn't go into any more detail.

I still haven't gotten to the bottom of this, anyone have any further ideas or know of any wiring diagrams that might point me in the right direction.

I emailed the photo and description to my local Volvo dealer but had no response.

Looks like the connector for the radiator fan but I think you would have noticed if that was not coming on.

Have you got one on the other side of the car?
Is the connector you've circled plugged into anything?

I couldn't follow the connecter any further at the time.
I'm planning on getting the bumper/under tray off this weekend to fix a washer fluid leak so hopefully I can trace it a bit further.

Yes alarm definitely works.
