Good evening All

Just been away for the weekend first trip with the car and caravan nose weight 100Kg and it s bum was dragging on the floor. Anyone here had any issues if so what was the remedy.
Can someone confirm this vehicle has a transverse spring in 2020??
The car is non air suspension

Any help greatly appreciated

Beetee

If you search V90 Practical Caravan there is a picture with a twin axle hitched to a V90 (2018 Model) which might give a comparison to your own.

100kg noseweight sounds high for a standard estate car without self levelling suspension. It’s a while since I caravanned but sure the norm was 75kg back then...

Mine tows with a max nose weight of 80kg with no problem.
(Yes sadly I do use a gauge)

Just a thought, how much are you carrying in the car itself?

Is nose weight the same as tow ball weight?, sound like it to me, if so then its 110kg for a braked trailer and 50kg from an unbraked trailer, these can be exceeded by maximum of 100kg as long as the speed is kept below 62mph,

No they are not the same thing, the tow ball weight is the weight the towbar will safely carry, the nose weight relates to the trailer nose weight at the hitch, trailers require the weight to be biased to the front for stability, if the weight were biased to the back there would be severe risk snaking, caravans/trailers have a safe or ideal nose weight, 80kg is usually normal, I would not aim to be above that weight.

There is no way I would ever risk putting more than the designed tow ball weight on my cars towbar. I aim for 80kg on my caravan nose weight.
Putting 210kg of load on a V90 towbar would be asking for trouble even at 30 mph never mind 62 mph.

"Can someone confirm this vehicle has a transverse spring in 2020??"
You could just have a look to be sure but the answer is YES.

My xc90 has towball limit of 110kg , my caravan chassis (single axle, alko) has a limit of 100kg . You go by what’s the lower limit ... 99.9% of single axle vans chassis have 100k limit .
