Default 940 wiper arm, splines gone - is this the part no?

Just a quick question, are the wipers the same for driver / passenger side? I was working on the car earlier but it's now several miles away and I forgot to compare them. I've seen p/n 3538316 mentioned - would that be correct for the passenger side?

Wiper went wonky and after inspecting the linkage and cable, which was all fine, the penny dropped and I saw the splines were gone in the arm itself.

Looking at Vida, I can only find 3538317, with a quantity of 2. See the image attached, vehicle profile selected was a 1995 940 RHD.

Seems I can always count on you, sir. Indeed I was concerned I was looking at a LHD unit. I shall search for 3538317 - many thanks. Car is still going well with your cylinder head btw, now transporting building supplies, as it used to do 20 years ago!

It always amuses me when I see the 700 and 900 Series and probably many earlier models oem wiper drive gear and motor etc made by Electrolux that well known Swedish maker of vacuum cleaners etc.

Nothing like lateral thinking when outsourcing!

The OP should still be able to source an arm easily from the many 940's still being broken up for spares.

I might have a couple from the 940 I broke. Splines could also be knackered as the car was 25 years old with 250k on it ! I'll have a look though

Just checked VIDA for the LHD, it has the part number which you originally stated, 3538316, with a quantity of 2... I guess it's the angle of the arms that's different.

Sorry for the delay, I was getting killed by teenagers on an online game (call of duty)... the joys of destressing to only get stressed!

If you are really stuck and need the car I have in the past wrapped some tin foil round the spindle and refitted the wiper arm. Never failed and lasted till I got another arm from the breakers. The spindle being steel as opposed to the arm being Alloy and tapered means that it will hold itself in place by friction.

I am sure you will find like the 700 Series the arms are not cranked and as suggested by part numbers (2 off) there is no difference between left and right. Just a matter of putting the arms properly on the drive splines for a neat equal wipe fix.
