I am looking for a good 2.3 engine from a 740.

Please no oilleaks, highmileage??

Hi,i have a 740 i shall be selling soon it has the 2.3engine,but i shall be selling the whole car,i have had it for 20 years and it has only done 136.000 miles.Tom....

Hi,just received your post,you ask is it for scrap it is far to good to scrap,it is a saloon,colour blue with cloth interior,i have hade cam belt changed at131,000 also the clutch and brakes, as for the price make me a sensable offer,if you wish to phone me it is 01787 269645 any time,if you want it let me know soon as i have others who are interested Tom..

I have a 1986 740 saloon auto 2.3 carb engine 175000 miles, runner, no mot, needs new breaks and tyres, also radiator.
Any use

I have one. It was working when I scrapped the car - well, it turned over anyway. I suspect the fuel pump finally went. The plugs and HT leads are all relatively new!

180k miles, had a new belt at around 135k when I bought the car. The only thing that ever let me down on it was the rotor/distributor cap.
The car itself will head off to metal heaven by the end of february, so make me a *sensible* offer (bearing in mind I have to take it out of the car).
i could even bring it over to Newhaven beginning of March.
