1995 940 2.3 turbo auto.
best fuel/ sorry, "average fuel econ = 36mpg manual boost controller fitted and running 6 psi. the engine runs far sweeter than before in original format, its drives smoothly and give better fuel consumption than as standard. next job is a K&N air filter element, to help engine breath better, but thats all. id fit a sports rear exhaust box If i could find one, missed one recently on Ebay. |

91 940 estate 230fb 265,000 miles. best with light load and taking easy 60ish 32mpg. But more normal used like van 28mpg. towing 25ish. Does allot of miles. average 25,000 a year incl trips to Ireland so probably in abused class but maintained well

My old 780 (B280E = 2.8 V6) did 30.3mpg coming back from the BKV at a steady 70-75mph using cruise.

1991 940 20i non turbo petrol
Getting around 26-28 mpg on a run, around 20-22 town runs, should improve a little (I hope) when I do the head gasket and service it. To be honest fuel consumption was never going to be an issue as I know its no lightweight to drag around. The car was bought purely for its comfort and diy fixability. |

I am one who posted greater than 35mpg that was in a '91 940 estate 2.0 ltr on a run from Brussels to Lincoln and not exceeding 65mph. Generally though the average was 30-32mpg with normal driving. My '96 2.3 LPT estate returns 28-30mpg but useing the loud pedal on Continental motorways reduces it to 24mpg. But for both cars these figures are with a large roofbox fitted.
