Default Rear PDC Sensors Now Working

Again, my time in the garage today for 2 tyres has proved interesting.

Is there any link between the front brake sensor**/brake fluid level sensor and the rear PDCs?

Reason I ask is that for a little while I've had a rear PDC fault - service required message come up. Sometimes they work, sometimes not but its always there when I start the car up.

When I took the car into the garage this afternoon, I noticed that the sensor wire to the n/s/f brake calliper had been abraded and the wire damaged. The brake fluid warning light had been showing and I'd bought new pads/sensors and discs from the lovely FRF (with forum discount) and was ready to fit.

I also noticed that previously the sensors on both fronts had been effectively bypassed and it was this damage that had caused the sensor to flash warning.

I checked pads/discs both sides, still plenty of meat so I stripped back the wires and spliced together - no warning light.

Now when I drove off, there's no rear PDC Service required!

I mean I'm happy for a couple of things to be fixed but can't see the link between them.

** Brake wear indicator is a Police spec only thing apparently and basically hacks the brake fluid level circuit so you get a "Low Brake Fluid" alert when your pads get low.

I can answer that myself - NO

So whilst they worked all yesterday evening, several starts, today back to "normal" PDC Service Required...
