Sounds like you nearly purchased a bad one, keep looking there are quite a few in the autotrader at the moment. If you join the RAC breakdown i think they still do a free inspection, that should help when buying a new car.

When I look at used cars I follow my gut reaction. If it does not sound or feel right walk away. There will always be another.

Hi everyone,
Thanks again for your kind words. Just to let you all know that I bought an S60 at the weekend and I am very pleased with it! (Younger car, cheaper price, better deal all round!) Really glad I didn't buy the first car now, everything happens for a reason.... Cheers, Neil. |

Without a doubt you were RIGHT. Its a buyers market out there and if its not what you want, then walk away. Spend more time and you will get something better.
First off, people sell cars cause they NEED TO. If its such a great car in mint condition, why sell. There is a reason. And if the price is way too high or trying to sell a car as Mint when its fit for the skip, then you are right. I also am looking for a 2nd hand car thats over 10years old. Many a times, the seller thinks he is sitting on a gold mind. Claims its in Mint, no money spared to upkeep. And then when I get there, I spot work done on the body, parts need doing up and not really in mint. The reaction I get from the seller is shocking. Its take it or leave it... and I do just that. Then laugh for the next 2 months seeing the seller spend more to keep on advertising the car. Finally will get a reduction in price and then reality bites. My view, take your time, know what the market value is and then go find it. Don't compromise but do give some allowance for a really tip top car, well looked after by one guy, slightly lower miles average and has lots of extras. That sells! cheers |
