Default 02 D5 V70 or 02 2.4 140 V70

Hi,

My first post here,

I have never had a Volvo, the dealer have the two cars, almost the same price but the milage is 130K on the D5 and 80K on the 2.4 140. Both are SE and with leather so basic the same car with different engine.

The D5 have a towbar with 2 electrical outlets so that might indicate more tear on the engine though.

Both have full dealer history, should i stay away from the D5 because of the injector problem, not going to do any mileage so petrol or diesel does not matter that much.

Looking for any advice to choose between the two. Oh and the petrol has an automatic the D5 has a manual box.

Thank You !

HI

If your not eating up the miles the only reason to go for the diesel is the resale value when you come to sell it . Obviously it also depends if you would get on with a diesel , some dont because of the way the engine revs out low and the noise, servicing is more expensive .

As for the 140 it is quite under powered and not to sure about the resale / demand when you come to sell it , others may have views on this . Most of all check that it has the new Bosch etm and not the Italian Mag one .

Have you looked at any other makes of cars that may be less troublesome ?

Hi,

Have looked at other car makes and the V70 suits as we bring a lot with us on bank holiday weekends and beeing a scandinavian i feel at "home" in a Volvo.

Would like to go for a lower mileage D5 but as i have to ad 3,5K GBP to the car price in tax to bring the car into the republic here in ireland the car get expensive enough.

I feel the 140 bhp get to small in the car too, so i am aiming for the D5.

Thanks
