Default Alloy Wheel Refurbishment

Been reading the extensive and on-going 'dramas' some of our Volvo members have been with poor quality wheel refurbishers. I have done research and have identified two high quality refurbishers who are manufacturer approved to refurbish for the new car market.

Here are my findings...

1) The first is a company called Spit & Polish. They come with BMW approval I have spoken directly with the Manager myself to understand the process the cleaning, engineering & finishing process wheels are put through. Very impressed the website is also v.comprehensive. Meri Tyre who are UK wide, Phil Whitaker's & other companies act as collection sites. Cost p/w approx £45+V.A.T

2) The second company is Lepsons. They come v.highly recommended by the likes of the school of Bentley etc. I rate them as probably the best in the country. Spoken with the manager here as well. The difficulty is collection and delivery. Cost p/w approx £45+V.A.T

Both are Kent based.

Phil Whiatker's
Incidentially I am having all five of my 850R Volan Alloys refurbished as I write - Phil Whitaker's have kindly loaned me FOC a complete set of spare steel wheels and have kindly send my wheels off to Spit & Polish

I hope the above is helpful

Alastair, you've done some excellent research here. Once you get the wheels back let us know your feedback. We can add the company to our database if there is positive feedback so that others can use the company with confidence. Are they willing to offer a discount to VOC members?

Sadly we do need to get background information on companies that look after our cars and equipment these days as there is a huge variation in the quality of services available, I'm afraid that we all need to do quite detailed research in finding companies that we can trust to ensure professionalism and the high standards that we expect for our hard earned cash!

Spit and Polish aren't completely fault-free; when Phil sent my Volans there they forgot to laquer the wheels - and did the same to a set Phil had sent independently.

They did however correct the mistake FOC and Phil lent me a set of Titans while mine were being re-done.

Perfection Alloys did my spare set of Titans - pic on the gallery - and made a fine job of it.

They're in the Midlands and will collect and deliver - phone no. is 07860 915828.

Price is depending on wheel condition, but will be similar to the other companies mentioned.

Grizlyadams got his done at A1 Wheel Rufurbishment (something like that anyway!) in Wolverhampton, and they did a STUNNING job for £50 a corner. They're who I'm planning to use in 18 months or so!

cheers

James
