T5 wheel bolts - all the same?
Do all T5s use the same wheel bolts, or do they vary?

RE: T5 wheel bolts - all the same?
Or, more specifically - do 850 T5s use bolts with a different thread to V70 T5s?

RE: T5 wheel bolts - all the same?
Hi.
As the wheels are interchangable (except the very early 4 stud ones) then I would assume the bolts are too and incidentally the threads on my current (C70) bolts *look* the same as the ones I had on my T4 as well. I don't know for certain however, not having had both an 850 and a x70 to compare. But I would say that you will probably find that they are the same. Cheers, Dan. |

A Turkey?
Dan,
Thanks for your helpful response. The reason for asking is that I have bought a set of "Volvo T5" locking wheel bolts from a chap off eBay... but they don't fit. They're Volvo branded, sure enough, but when I went to fit them I found that the threads on my new bolts are much closer together than my existing ones. Therefore I'm trying to find out if I've been sold a turkey. I should have said that to start with! Alastair |

RE: A Turkey?
Having spoken with the chap by email, he tells me they were for "about a P-reg" T5. Hence the question about 850s vs V70s (mine is a '99 V70).
Hmmm. |

RE: A Turkey?
The bolts on the
850 v70 classic s70 c70 are the same size. The thread on the s80 s60 v70 phase II have a thicker thread. I am confident yours is the same size as 1997 v/s/c70 onwards. Trust me I know. I have made the mistake of buying the wronge locking nuts. Roy |

RE: A Turkey?
Roy - thanks for the response. I'm a bit confused now, though!
By your logic above, my V70 (old-shape) and the 850 T5 should have the same size wheel bolts. However the set I have (apparently for an 850 T5) do not fit my V70 (the threads are too narrow). So either the bolts are not what they purport to be, or I have a non-standard V70 (unlikely), or you're wrong about the V70 classic taking the same bolts as the 850 (also unlikely!) I'll give Volvo a call with the part number and see what they can tell me, to confirm. Alastair |

RE: A Turkey?
Alastair, I would think that your locking bolts are from the early 4 stud cars and I think they indeed used a different thread.
Cheers, Dan. |

RE: A Turkey?
That would make sense. I'll check it out with Volvo when I get a moment to call them - I need to establish exactly what vehicles they fit before I can sell them on!
Cheers for your input. Alastair |

RE: A Turkey?
Whe I asked about wheelbolts for a 1996 850 my Volvo dealer came up with a couple of types....and they were completely different thread widths!
