Default Rear Brakes/ Maybe front toooooo

Think I might have killed my rear brakes today. Whilst driving quite hard and using the brakes to almost there full, I found that i got a massive amount of vibration from the rear nearside under heavy braking...also a little vibration through the fronts. After stopping and looking at the discs i noticed the rears seem to have a blue colour to them and that they where extreamly HOT..! The fronts where also hot but not as blue as the rears....Any thoughts/help?

Also does anyone know of a Volvo Specilist in or around Swindon Wiltshire

I would be surprised if your discs went blue from one hard drive - unless you went a long way!!

My rears turned blue and it was becuase one pad had seized on each wheel and was therefore in constant contact.

THe cure is to remove the pads and give the caliper a good clean to ensure the pads can move freely.

I put new discs on (drilled) to match the look of my AP's.

Exactly as Paul stated, more so with a front drive car, the rear brakes are little used and tend to get overlooked as the cars age. Generally a good clean and full inspection will sort the problem out.

Your front juddering is probably caused by warped discs.... you have to allways have in mind that the front brakes on these cars were very underspecified, both 280 and 302mm discs. The very best quality aftermarket drilled and/or grooved discs will still warp badly if you are very heavy with your braking.

I second that, I`ve just replaced the rear discs & pads on my T5 & needed a file to get rid of the rust etc for where the pads rest on!
Top tip for moving the caliper pistons back into the calipers, get a smallish "G" clamp & use it to push the pistons back in.

OK, guys the disc where quite new any how (both front and rear)...maybe run for 1000 miles or so before this happened... I now know i've managed to warp the fronts...Plenty of brake judder from the front. Think I might have done the rears too as the back end seems to vibrate under heavy braking...As I said they where quite new and purchased from Euro Car Parts.... Think I might have to go see them and see what they say.
