Thanks for the link. Shame they did not swap it for the updated D5 as a comparison. The low mpg that he was reporting on the D5 is a concern.

Think it's a heavy footed motoring journo, rather than the car. We drive to enjoy the car and have averaged 36mpg in 11 months/19500 miles and have achieved up to 45mpg on long runs.

That's around what I have heard/read at few other places as well. mid 40s MPG in the D5 (slightly better with the powerpulse).

I thought the same as on the reviews you see reviewers floor the car to test it then comment on what they are getting MPG.
I will be quite happy if I get mid 40's on a run and average 36mpg overall.

I have the same engine in my V40, which I do drive like a boy racer, official mpg is 68mpg and I average 42mpg (best ever being mid 50s, on 10 miles of 50mph road works on the M62).
