It's a little better. But I still managed to scrape it coming into my driveway. No way near as bad as the old job though. The box doesn't drag, which is good.

Good to know! My current system rarely drags but then it is at standard ride height to avoid that problem. Used to be a lot worse until I sorted out the exhaust myself & adjusted the fit of everything except the downpipe to manifold.

Also, how does the noise compare - quieter / louder / just 'better'? IIRC, the back box is the oldest part of the exhaust on mine, so might consider this as and when it needs replacing.

Now thats more like it! Looks really good, thanks for the pics. So whats the story here, can you buy the various bits separate to make up what you have? If so, what kind of price are we talking about?

Couple problems adjusting it so the over-the-axle bend doesn't bang on the bottom of the car. But I loves it! The noise is properly superb.
this is the business!!! so, what's the bad news then???

@222s - the noise is really great! It is definitely louder, but no way intrusive, if you know what I mean. I have a hatred of sports exhausts that aren't sports exhausts, but just really, really loud - Saxo, Clio stylee! Hate. This is nothing like one of those. A real burble at idle.

@ Alf ista and Redcar - Dunno about price yet. I'm speaking to Simons about getting a batch of systems made up substiting the standard Simons box for this style (also made by Simons). I'm hoping to be able to sell them at a very similar price to the standard Simons system - I'll let you know.

Only difference at this stage is that I've used a stainless-steel box instead of the standard mild steel one.

for my car, to save costs, i was just thinking of welding the twin-down pipe to the existing 2inch pipe and using the current exhaust all the way to behind the back wheel. the only part i do want to change is the final silencer and tailpipe..

is it worth just installing the new rear silencer above, or should i replace the lot?

Personally, I'd change the lot mate. It made such a difference to the way my car runs that I'd recomend it all the way. Competely understand the costs as I'm as tight fisted as they come! It cost me a lot because I've bought the whole Simons system PLUS my back box. I'm trying to find out if I can get a batch made up with the twin tail pipe box instead of the standard one.

Simons agent in the UK is www.jetex.co.uk

I totally agree, just how I feel and exactly what I am after.

Very nice twin pipe. Would it be rude to ask how much does the back box cost ? ( As I would love to replace back box only onto the Simonz.)

@ 1966 122s - Not rude to ask AT ALL!! You can get the following from Jetex:

-u225100r Stainless Steel Maxi 51 silencer £95.97 or u225142 Maxi 51 Steel £73.09
-u015150 2" 500mm pipe £8.38 - I cut about 8cm off to make it fit
-2 x u765410 u-clamps £2.06
-u847025 Hanging strap (same as the one you already have on your Simons system - I re-used mine)
-u839045 Angle bracket £2.06 - I cut about 2 cm and drilled the hole bigger + fitted it to the rear bumper bolt instead f the 2nd one on the Simons system

Speak to Alan Jones on 01789 298989; I've been speaking to him about this project. He's a really helpful and knowledgeable guy.

@ Alf ista and redcar - good news - Simons will make a batch of systems with twin tail-pipes. I'm still waiting for a price and I'll let you know asap.
