Default 2001 T4 wont run when cold...help!!

I have owned a 2001 V40 T4 since July and 9 times out of 10 say it wont idle on a cold start.I have changed plugs which did'nt work....then i changed the CTS which seemed to work for a few days but is now worse than ever..My local garage said the problem could be due to blowing exhaust/cracked manifold which you can hear leaking from cold upsetting the mixture....Could this be the case?Anyone had simular problems?

i don`t know what you actually call a CTS! but it is not a cracked exhaust manifold as mine is cracked and does not present any problems when cold and any noise will disappear when warm or hot.

the engine temp. sensor dictates the mixture from cold all the way up to and including the proper running of the engine so unless you have an error code that says otherwise i would start here!

As 960 says I'd start with the engine temp sensor (960kg is usually not far off the mark). This should be a fairly cheap part and if it fixes the issue then you'll be one happy chap and if it doesn't then atleast you've tried and not had any great expense (yet!).

Try cleaning the Idle Control Valve which is a very easy job and if it has not been cleaned for a couple of years will need doing anyway. Use spray pack carby cleaner.
Don't forget to report back with any successes.
