Default 1990 745 M47-hole in clutch fork ???

Hi all. Today my clutch slave cylinder gave up. However, I can see the rod went through the clutch fork. Why, is it that the plastic bit at the and of the cylinder went and it just exploded ? Is there meant to be hole in the fork ? Ordered the part... One week until it arrives. Eurocarparts offered it at 90 pound. Got that instead... Thoughts ?

Just to let anyone that has the same problem there know. Yes, on the M47 there is definitely a hole in the fork, which serves for the end of the piston rod and its plastic end to swivel in it. The plastic wears out and sooner or later the piston rod of the slave cylinder goes through, leaving you without a clutch. First of all, get a good pair or circlip pliers. You can very easily reassemble the slave cylinder and put a nut and a bolt for the rod to work properly through the hole in the fork. I have replaced mine though and kept the old as a spare. When fitting the new one, try bleeding it whilst it hangs on the hose, before you install it on the box, obviously do not pump the pedal whilst doing so, or simply fill it with fluid before fitting. Otherwise you will have fun times, if you do not have a one man bleeder. And if that is the case you will need a helper to bleed it.
