Default Rear Foglight Issue

I have a 2004 XC90 and have just failed Control Technique (French MOT) for the foglight not working. I only have one located in the bumbper. There was no indication of the dash, which is normal for all other lights. So I changed the Lamp (bulb). Still nothing. Fuze No2, in rear fuze box is ok, but there seems to be no power going to the light. When I press the button for the rear light I now (since changing the lamp) get the light not working message. I also get the orange light on the button to show that rear foglight has been selected.

Could it be a control issue?

Cant find anything online or in my trusty manual.

You are going to have to test the wiring and connections - powers and grounds. I would start at the lamp and work back. You also need a wiring diagram.
Be methodical.

Water getting in and corrosion in the socket is very common - replacement lead with new socket is not expensive.

As said - you'll need to get started with a multimeter.

You don’t have a towbar do you?
The old 7 pin lighting sockets had a cut off for the fog lamp built in, and I have known the contacts to corrode.

It runs to the REM.
Follow the path on the wiring diagram.

Sorry to ask an insulting question, but are you testing it under the correct circumstances, I have known the rear fog to be wired so it only comes on with dipped beam, no idea on this specific car, as I never use rear fog lights & as far as I am concerned they should never be fitted to any car. The amount you see being used in perfectly fine weather where visibility is 3 miles & the number being used in the rain that dazzle everybody behind is a greater hazard then on the very very very very few occasions when they should be used for their designed use. Sorry for the rant but they are one of my pet hates along with middle lane sitters, don't get me started on middle lane sitters with rear fog lights on.

The XC90 rear fog lamp can be switched on any time the sideliggts or headlights are on.

Usage is restricted in most countries to foggy conditions only

Default Testing Correctly

Yes I am testing it correctly with my main light on. Infact I am now getting the dashboard indication to tell be that it is not working (I did not have this initially). I have also found where the loom comes into the car. Its a bit tricky to get to but that is the next connection to test.

Thanks for comments and advice. I will find the problem!!!
