Tell this story to whatever Volvo has as a regional HQ. There can't be too many of these "Private Police Chief Cruisers" on the British Isles.
Volvo's brass might know. |

Yes I guess so. But...
I am the 5th owner, so had no idea about its full past, and probably neither did the other 3 previous owners. I only found that out when Volvo gave me a Spec sheet on the car a year ago after I requested one due to being interested in its spec as it is quite well fitted out. I am not worried, have not had a visit today ..... So far ! Will email Volvo UK direct and see what they say may have caused it or if they have record of any 'extra' mods being fitted that were not removed or disabled. As I previously said, the car was not a patrol car. It does not have evidence where any extra hardware was fitted, ie extra electrics or holes in the roof for light bars. Besides, the car is not White in colour its Lunar Perl. Will see what I can discover over the next few days. |

Being a bit of noob on here can I ask how I'd go about obtaining a spec sheet from Volvo for my V70?

Could have been "stealth" officer?
BTW: The nicest I've ever seen was olden looking transit connect, with small version of roofing ladder strapped to the roof rack and a bloke inside with green builders vest on. And yet it was going full speed trough Mitcham flashing blue lights Actually there were 3 cars at the time, all stealth police flashing blue.. But this one has drawn my attention.

Just curious about original spec of my shed. It has the inbuilt booster seats in the back and the rear gunner seats so I'm guessing it was specc'd quite well.

Well I have had a reply from Volvo Customer Service UK today.
I told them everything I could about the incident and my cars details. They confirmed that there was no active subscription for Volvo On Call linked to my car and no customer details linked to it. So they say it would 'not' have been this system that contacted the Police. They said as they are not 'technical' at Customer Care they advised that I contact my local dealer in order to have diagnostics run to establish what actually made the call. If they are unable to find the cause of the incident the dealer can raise a Technical Report that will be put to Volvo's Technical Team. I am not due another service until about July next year, so I will hold off until then as they are 30 miles away.... Unless it happens again and I will be straight to the dealership to get whatever it is disabled or ripped out. |

Hi Brendan W
I have no idea. The lady said something about something logged on the system but there were no details. To be honest, and fair, they are service front of desk and not technical. A previous dealer that I used had service desk people who were ex-mechanics so could give you quite a bit of knowledge and 'free' how-to for jobs that you could do yourself. And if Customer Service cannot see anything on there main server I guess the dealership was incorrect it what it was seeing. The only other recollection I have of the incident on Monday was when I went out to the car at 5pm to leave work I found it unlocked. I did lock it in the morning when I arrived. Though again to be fair I have accidentally unlocked the car before when the fob in my pocked has pressed against a table/desk by accident. On starting the car I had no message in the DIM saying that the alarm had been triggered, so it could not have been a forced access. Besides, my office is rural and the car is right outside the window where it can be seen at all times and I would have heard the alarm ( New Siren fitted 2 years ago ). |
