Default 1966? Volvo P1800S - Parting out in West Sussex

I've recently come across a chap in West Sussex who is thinking of parting out a P1800S. The car was undergoing restoration, but is basically uneconomical to do as the underneath is more or less completely shot. It's been standing outside for about 4 years under a tarpaulin. I've managed to have a quick look at it and many of the outer body panels - including the wings and boot look pretty good. I was told that the front wings and nose cone were replaced, before the resto stopped, and there are new door skins that have not yet been fitted. As much a hate to see a car like this broken up, it could yield some useful parts. The interior is poor though and the jukebox dash top is cracked. However, the dials are all there as is the original steering wheel. Please phone Ian on 01403 700998. He's a welding specialist so if there's enough interest in the parts then he'll strip the car down.

Default P1800 spares

Hi. I will be keen on the prop shaft, the left and right sub axials and a few other bits. Ta, Kassie

Default steering wheel and seat belts

You wrote that the interior is poor but the original steering wheel is still there. If the condition is ok I would be very interested in it. Are there front seat belts (manual adjust) in it? I need a set of these. They should be posted to the Netherlands.

regards Ed

Would be interested in any panels in good condition. Has anyone contacted Ian to see if this is happening?

No, I'm not acting as the middle man here and havn't contacted hime since going to have a quick look at the car. I did though send him an e-mail just to let him know that I was putting details of the car and contact number on the forum. The car is probably beyond saving as a resto project as now its rotten underneath having set outside under a tarpaulin for a couple of years. The interior is also shot having been open to the elements. However, a number of new body panels were fitted before it was laid up and these seem to be in pretty good nick. If interested in something then the best thing is to contact Ian direct.

Do you have an e-mail address of Ian? Or can you forward mine?

I spoke to Ian this morning and his e-mail address is fabriweld@btinternet.com. He's had a few calls about parts but is still trying to contact the owner of the car to formally ok the parting out with him. The car has been sitting in his compound now for a couple of years and is taking up space and gradually deteriorating. He's compiling a list of those interested in parts so please e-mail him with your requirements. Hopefully, he'll have sorted things out with the owner in the near future.
