Default Recall - emissions?

Hi all:

I'm new to forum be gentle, LOL. I was going to pull the trigger tomorrow on a 2013 V60... thought I'd do an MOT check to look at the history and to see if there were any open recalls. Turns out there is.

I've also recently read something that popped up in my Facebook (because I've been searching for Volvos) about a group law suit about volvo emissions that apparently they're alleged yo have had cheat devices. So I checked to see if this particular vehicle I was going to buy might be affected and it said it probably was and asked if I wanted to join the law suit. I didn't as I aint bought it yet.

Putting two and two together I wondered whether that's what the recall could have been i.e. the emissions. Thought I'd MOT check a bunch of other cars of the same model and year and about 90% of those I checked also had recalls outstanding. Odd thing is that they all said "This vehicle has been recalled since at least 20 August 2021". I wonder if it's that date because that's when I checked (I'f I'd checked on the 15th would it have said the 15th for example) or was it an incredibly lucky coincidence that the day I checked is the same day the recall went out or put on the website at least (that it wouldn't be on there if I'd checked the day before for example).

Anyway, so I guess my question is has anybody had this recall? If it is new what is it? Could it be the emissions thing. Guess I'll be onto the seller tomorrow and or the dealership with the VIN to find out.

Not sure about the emissions but the outstanding recall could be for the seatbelt mount replacement…

It's probably the recall for the front seat belt fastenings many volvo models from 2007 to 2018 were affected I still need to have mine done for my S80 and V70, as for emissions I think volvo were actually quite truthful in comparison to the likes of volkswagen, not bashing them as I had a 2012 passat 2.0tdi that was affected before I got into volvos and was a great car and the recall was done swiftly, only downside was the car did noticeably more dpf regens after the software was updated.

Thank you. I don't know much about the Volvo allegations to be honest. I'm guessing the dealer won't sell the car until the recall is done... according to this article they could get into big trouble.

So far there have been lots of claims in the media with no reproducable evidence to back them up, and very adamant denials by Volvo.

If you are in any doubt about recalls on a potential purchase, just ring Volvo Customer Services UK, They will tell you in seconds what has or has not been done to your chosen motor.

Just a shyster legal firm trying to drum up a class action claim that will inevitably see you out of pocket and them with a champagne hangover. I put the registration of my tractor in to one of those sites and it said I could be owed ten grand.....

To be clear - there has never been any credible suggestion that Volvo installed "cheat" devices or manipulated the emissions testing. There is some noise in some areas that their cars don't deliver the economy figures quoted, but that's wholly about the "laboratory" test not being representative of real life use rather than Volvo doing anything un-towards.

My point would be, the fact some shyster lawyers are putting it out there is no reason to avoid a Volvo, or any other manufacturer.

And the chap said ^^^^^ a quick phone call to any dealer will tell you what recalls may be outstanding, and if there are, the will be done f.o.c.

Default You must have them, but be wary of recalls

I took my 2015 V60 D4 for it's recalls two weeks ago. One of the recalls was for the seatbelt fastenings. I was not impressed with the cables they left lying around under the seat - it was easiest just to tidy them myself and was insignificant compared to the other disaster they caused:
