Got the car back after changing struts and more than happy that they are done but have a knocking, appears to be under driver seat but I am going back to garage to pay them, and ask if they know what it is. The joys of Volvo ownership.

If the struts have been replaced, the drop links will have been disturbed...maybe not done up properly tight. They're not conical seat and have to be very tight.
Drop links can sound like knocking is coming from elsewhere.

Hi Longhouse21 you are right took it back to the garage he found the problem straight away it was the RH drop link and come loose. I cant believe that this link can make so much noise and annoy me so much. The car is somewhere near where I want it to be so this afternoon fitted my rear spoiler from a v70r with led light which just finishes the look of the car. I hope the link doesn't loosen and its back to being a quiet economical car with enough power and excellent ride. Still a few jobs to do and it was a much longer journey than I thought.
