Default Free Amazon Estate

Hi all,

A chap's just offered me an Amazon estate FOC. It's all there, and comes with a bunch of spares. Sadly, I'm not allowed any more Volvos until the 1800ES is back on the road.

He'd love to to go to a good a home ASAP. His name's John Gardiner, and his number is 07789 000364.

The car's in Dover.

If anyone rescues it, do keep me updated: sam.glover@practicalclassics.co.uk

Sam

Offer appreciated Sam. I suppose if it was a VOLGA instead of a VOLVO with a nice two stroke it would be more to your taste! lol. Great mag by the way, keep up the good work.
Hugh.

Hi there,

It looks to be a 1964 model - slate blue - so that would be grey interior - can you give some details like chassisnumber (small differences in the interior, rear seat - changed during the production of the 1964 model).

So how's the interior? (seats) and the door cards?..

Thanks in advance.

That looks as though it would restore; I've seen plenty worse. Nice registration as well. I really hope somebody does rescue it!

Hello Soren et al.,

These photos represent the sum total of what I know about the car. Give John a holler for more info - he's a top chap.

I remain sorely tempted to rescue this. But I have a profusion of projects in similar states at present, and I really don't need another one.

Just to put you all at rest, we went and looked at this Amazon today and I am glad to report the owner has considered us the appropriate new owners of his car.

We have used a similar aged saloon for over 25 years and I used to have an estate, so it will be good to get back into another. However, it will be sympathetically restored rather than to the standards of the Jonazon, which appeared here - besides I'm retired so not that much cash to splash, just bags of enthusiasm still!

We are going to help the owner clear the garage next week so he can end its rental and properly retire. Then trailer rental will be arranged so it can be transported a few dozen miles west along the coast, where I'll assess things (and put some diesel down the bores to hopefully release the seized engine).

It is good yet another car can be saved from the clutches of possibly another scrappage deal, and NO it won't be broken for spares (as I have plenty anyway). Early Amazons are far too valuable for that, and it has loads of provenance.

Well done Paul.

Now you should convince Sam to get the car restored as a project in Practical Classics - sponsored by Brookhouse and others!

Glad to hear that it has gone to a good home!

Will you have it ready in time for the next southern 120 rally?
