Yup, they have very little spare stock, enough to keep the line running. Yeah, it’s totally annoying, but do you have a car whilst yours is off the road?

Also, you don’t say what the water ingress was caused by? Assume this is all warranty stuff?

Wonder where you stand, if they can’t fix within XX time frame etc. ?

Sorry about the three posts.....combination of fat fingers and getting hang of this forum, hence the reposting. Nice to see the attention to deatil the car was delivered to me in Sept 2018....
By the way, I see that it is inferred by the previous poster that it is reasonable to wait months for a replacement part. Well it may be for a Volvo owner, but not had that expereince with the other 5 brands that i have purchased!
The looms are fairly standard and thus all it takes is to use a procedure that other manufacturers use: a supply system..with the MRP system managing the manufacturing system requirement ie components used for scheduled manufacturing and ensuring that there is a buffer stock of spares. The looms are made by a separate supplier. Most manufacturers have a supply of parts on the shelf that itself is subject to a reorder sytem............otherwise everyone would have to wait months for a spare part! The dealer has had similar issues re parts during the past 12 months.

having worked in a modern manufacturing plant for vehicles and the fact that there are a few posters waiting a long time for their NEW vehicles. I could be that the loom manufacturers have suffered a drastic event (fire etc) that has curtailed their production. Hence no looms on shelf and new vehicles having prority. In all the years i have had a volvo, the longest i have had to wait for spare parts is 2 days. And having two XC90s (120K miles & 85K miles)the spare part list is rather long!
So No i dont think volvo have an overall spare parts supply problem, but just in one area

Having worked with Police vehicles for many years I have experience of taking parts off the line to repair an off the road vehicles which all manufactures did for us.

The problem is that vehicle specifications move on and the part currently being fitted on the line may not be the same as the one on the vehicle off the road.
