Default Catalytic converter cage / protection

So, I finally managed to get a S/H cat for the 855 (thanks to Tim Williams).

Any ideas about how to protect it from being stolen again?

Has this become such a regular occurrence that someone has made an off-the-shelf cage or similar to protect the converter or has anyone here made one before and would like to offer any advice?

You cant protect it .. it's happened once and may well happen again in your neck of the woods.Seriously though why dont you just run it de cat and save yourself the worry and hassle. You could just refit it Mot time if that's what's concerning you

That's certainly an option I'm considering. Unfortunately, the car was already booked into a garage to have some other work done and they were sniffy I didn't buy an €800 cat from Sweden, rather than the perfectly serviceable s/h one I found. They weren't going to entertain a de-cat option, but if and when it happens again, a straight pipe is more appealing.

Is that likely to trigger a warning light for not having the cat, though?
