My initial thoughts aswell - I even inquired on US forum if such thing does not hurt the air filter or something, seem to me without that part its more likely to suck more water or dust when driving, but no. Also, driving for over a year in a really wet country I can tell you it didnt do anything bad to my filter nor intake.
Not sure why its there, or rather - I get WHY its there, as it holds the front of the snorkel better attached, but I dont get why it has divider in the middle.

not the first time of "volvo/ford designed part that can actually be improved" right? (torque mount, looking at you wink wink) :P

Nobody else seen an difference?

I'm simply going to put it down to a combination of the work done over the last few months.

The MAF sensor was cleaned and TCV replaced, though these were done months apart. I think the very recent sealing of this airbox has allowed for the MAF/ECU to correctly adjust to everything, thus the huge result.

I just wish I'd filmed a "before/after" video of my speedometer to show the difference all this has made.

not like we dont believe you its just you must have some other conditions aswell to benefit from sealing this, otherwise honestly I dont know what else it could have been.

you can always do tests now and rip the gasket off and compare results ;PP If car goes immediately "bad" it means Im totally wrong

I must admit I think mine does pick up quick a bit quicker since I've done this. Most noticeable in 5th and 6th.

Cold just be the colder/denser air keeping the turbo happy but I think it's this gasket.

It's hard to know what's a placebo and what isn't

Just been out... absolutely hammering it down with rain so had to really short shift 1st gear..bit slippy in 2nd.

Car is supposed to do 6.3s to 60, though given the wet road, I think the 7 seconds dead is not bad!

Before gasket the car just wasn't pulling properly.

+ YouTube Video

Nice! I wish my gears were easier to engage, I am loosing so much on gear change these days it sometimes make me sad :/
Dont remember, have you tested it from 60-140kmh? Any improvement on that?
