Where did you get that short shifter? Was it modded from an oem lever or completely made from scretch?

I can find them made for m47s, but not m90s.

Just a quick update, since getting this old bus I’ve been gradually expanding my journey distances and regularly checking under the bonnet for any issues.

Still waiting for my big box of service goodies from FRF, will be good to get that done and hopefully that will stand me in good stead.

I had mentioned problems of the temp gauge reading halfway immediately on cold start up, and lack of dash cluster illumination, and some suggestions were kindly offered, I hadn’t investigated further as I’m waiting for dash bulbs from FRF, so was going to do all at the same time.

However, today the temp gauge rose gently from cold start, and done the same later in the afternoon??.

Mertz had mentioned reflowing solder on flexible PCB on page 12 of the thread, if the temp gauge works for the next few weeks, I’m very tempted to leave the dash unmolested, as I’m bound to break something or melt the PCB, the only real soldering I’ve done is plumbing work and a very small amount of hi fi leads😀😀. I dont usually drive at night, and if I did need to, I can use the missus’ car.

Am I being a numpty for considering leaving the dash bulbs, and just doing the temp gauge check suggested by Forrest on post 95 ??

Cheers
Steve

Cheers Andrew, I don’t need telling twice to not meddle with unknown things😀😀

I didn’t really have faith in the old girl to take me and the missus and the hounds to Wells last week, so took her RAV 4

First day there, we took the hounds round Sandringham for a nice walk, lovely 2 hour stroll, get back to car park, paid the parking on the new fangled machines that give you grace period to actually leave.

Get to car, and NSF totally flat, oh FFS 😡😡

Fortunately with her RAV4 it has spare hanging on back of the rear door, so a very quick tyre change was executed. Mud and crap everywhere, luckily the car park surface was reasonably dry and stable, but was just compacted gravel, still made me sweat having it balanced on a spindly scissor jack

Tyre had massive flat spot, and would not fit back under the hard spare cover on the rear door, so wheel into car, hook the cover back on, and head for the exit.

To great relief I was able to exit car park without needing to pay further, trundling back through Brancaster near thenWhite Horse, a great big crash sounds from behind, followed by the sound of the hard spare tyre cover bouncing along Brancaster street ……. 🙄🙄

Of course the sort of chap I am, I sent t’missus to recover the debris, fortunately the massive Range Rover following didn’t run over it though😀😀😀

We’re not doing very well this year, she melted my Wentworth, and I’m being blamed for her spare cover needing attentions of bodywork chap.👍👍

Enjoy your trip😀😀

Cheers

I can find them made for m47s, but not m90s.

For the 850 it is a triangular plate that goes on the gearbox. I can alter the M90 gear stick to be a shorter throw

Default Another Years Ticket 👍👍

Well now had this old thing as an emergency set of wheels since mid Feb, MOT expires 18th June, so had put it in today to get a feel for the damage to wallet pending.

Had done a quick once over myself, but I still had a day full of worry….

Anyway, full new ticket with 2 advisories for each rear tyre, and I was aware of those when I bought it, and will change now I have a new ticket. One very very happy chap 😀😀👍👍

For a 255k mile 30 year old motor, that’s a result.

Cheers
