Radiators.. STD or custom Ally?
I've almost finished my 2.1 engine for the Ammo, and will be needing a new radiator anyway as mine is pretty knackered and had been refurbed once before.
Anyone had a custom ally one made for their car? I don't want to go for a chinese one really, the 3-core one they do doesn't fit without mods to car and/or rad, 2-core may be ok.. build quality not so much. New std rads are readily available, but with much uprated engines are they enough? I had one made by Allisport for my Lotus, a replica of the original I sent them, top notch work, although it did cost around £500 with fan included. opinions/experiences please... cheers Steve T

radiators
I had a three core matrix fitted to the OEM top and bottom header tanks. The radiator company (which has since gone) said it was a bit of a stretch but they managed to make it fit. Cost about a ton to do.
I did fit a Chinese 2 core in the 1800 but the filler neck was about 10mm too high and just touched the bonnet underside. I sold it to a Ray on here who had an amazon and hence more clearance. Other than that the Chinese radiator fitted well and had no cooling issues Russ |

I believe that's what Amazon Cars do with their 'Triple X' rads.. but at a price. Got one quote back from a place who've done an Amazon rad in Ally before and its just under £500 inc vat.

What's wrong with a properly cleaned out standard one? My rally car never gets above half-way to (NOT in) the Normal sector on the temp guage when on the move and a switchable electric fan keeps it cool in queues or very slow moving traffic. I also have a rally plate holder in front of the grille.
I have measured the temperatures at top and bottom of the rad with an accurate thermocouple device and when "stinking hot" after a run, the top of the rad is never above 85 deg C and the bottom is cool enough to touch comfortably. |

I just get the original tad rebuilt with bigger cores. Even with no fan the temps are low unless sat in traffic for long periods on hot days.

240 radiator/shroud, Awesome "modern" AC... Temp gauge mid-way at idle with AC on @ 90° ambient.
