S40 EGR Woes
Hi All,
So I have an S40 that has a few faults i'm trying to clear up. BCM-0101 - Communication between control units Communicational problems with ECM ECM-4477 - EGR Control - Flow too low ECM-6720 - EGR Control - Flow too high ECM-4490 - EGR Valve - Signal too high ECM-4438 - EGR Control - Jammed ECM-6630 - Glow Plug - Faulty Signal The car has the Anti-Skid Service Required message on the dashboard, after a bit of research it seems that the EGR may be causing the BCM-0101 message which i assume is causing the message on the dashboard so my plan is to fix this as a first port of call. So today I removed the EGR valve from the car, dismantled it and cleaned it out with carb cleaner, the part where the motor joins the valve had a bit of carb deposit and it did feel sticky to move the valve, so blasted it out and now the valve itself is nice and smooth and easy to move, the motor however it would turn but i thought it should spring back if you turn it, mine didn't or not very well, and felt quite stiff, bit of wd40 didnt help it. anyway put it back together and still getting the same error codes and message on the dashboard. I found this on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-2...53.m1438.l2649 the second number does match the number on my motor so wondering if anyone thinks there is a reason why this wouldnt work, don't want to waste £30 but also don't want to have to fork out for the whole egr as the bottom half looks fine to me and was annoying to get back on looking at it i think i could remove the motor and replace it without having to remove the whole unit. thoughts? cheers Nate |

An update on this post in case anyone in future has the same error codes.
I received the £19.95 replacement EGR valve, swapped it out and issues resolved! reset the error codes on vida and read the vehicle and no longer any EGR or BCM error codes, also no anti skid service message and car has normal power output. was a very cheap fix for me in the end, considering the garage i had taken it to before were quoting me over a grand for replacement ECU + Programming, EGR and all sorts jokers. happy ending for the S40, now just need to get it a years ticket and will be up for sale. |
