Default Crane Bleeding advice please

Hi, I have a "Nader" engine crane which I suspect is sold under many names. What is the correct sequence for bleeding. I normally fold the arm, open the valve and pump about 20 times but the bleed doesn't last. Need to bleed it frequently. Am I missing something? what is the rubber plug half way down the pump for?

I would think the rubber plug is the filler bung . any signs of leaks around the base or ram ? I would get some jack oil and pour a small amount in and try again . If you let the arm right down that should force all the air out into the reservoir .

The bung is to fill BUT male sure its in good sealing condition ...not torn or loose.
