Default Acrid smoke after mot

Hi all

I just collected my car after its mot and about 3 miles up the road at a junction, it bellowed out masses of acrid smoke for a few seconds? I couldn't pull over as entering a main A road so pulled into a garage about a mile further on. The smoke has stopped and the car feels fine with no dash lights so wondering what happened?

Thanks for any advice

that sounds like some turbo cleaner was used to get the emissions in line, and some was left in the system. When I cleaned up the turbo on my old D5, part of the process was pumping out tons of steamy exhaust. Boy, was I popular.

Thanks for that, she's never struggled with the emission test but maybe they just took it upon themselves to do it anyway! Bit peed off that it failed on the nearside headlamp beam too low, (never had problem before) they said they tried to adjust it but couldn't so needed a new headlamp. When i got home, I realized they had sheared the adjuster clean off! I have put some spacers in to raise the beam so hopefully it will go through now?

Ahh good old MOT stations snapping the adjuster off and denying it. I had the same, just dremmel a slot into the plastic and you can change it with a flat head screwdriver. Just a PITA that you have to remove the headlight each time you want to change it then slot it back in to see how it looks.

Yes, wasn't impressed as they broke it and then telling me i need a new headlamp. I told them i knew what they'd done, but they didn't seem to care. I put a washer in the top screws of the projector unit to tilt it back a tad and it passed ok but won't be using that garage again!
